Finding Your Purpose: From Comfort to Calling

As this Friday unfolds, I'm reminded of the profound message in the song "My House Is Full." There is peace and contentment in the Father's house today, with plenty of food on His table and no one turned away. There is singing and laughter as the hours pass by. Yet in the midst of abundance comes a sobering reality: "My house is full, but my fields are empty. Who will go and work for Me today?"

The Call Beyond Comfort

Just as the song laments, "It seems my children all want to stay around my table, but no one wants to work in my fields," we too can become comfortable in our blessings while forgetting our purpose. This Friday serves as a sweet reminder to push away from the table and look out through the windowpane. Just beyond the house of plenty lies a field of golden grain right unto harvest, but where are the reapers?

Your Purpose Awaits Outside

The song challenges us: beyond our comfortable walls, purpose awaits. Perhaps your field is a missions trip to Africa, where souls hunger for hope. Maybe it's starting that bakery where you can serve your community with your gift of creating delicious pastry bread. Your purpose might be as simple yet profound as going for a walk with a friend who needs your presence, or calling someone to say "I love you" when they need it most.

Wonderfully Made for Work

You are wonderfully made with a mind to work and a readiness to "just do it." The Father has equipped you specifically for your field. When we look out the window, we don't just see needs—we see our purpose. The fields are ready for harvest, and you have been prepared for this moment.

Time to Leave the Table

The song's question echoes: "In the house, oh, can't the children hear the Father sadly say?" Today, hear that call. Push away from comfort. The world needs you—not just to enjoy the blessings at the table but to bring those blessings to others in the fields of service. We need you!

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. - Psalm 139:14
