In Some Seasons of My Life, I Have Felt Very Lonely… You Too?

There have been seasons in my life when loneliness settled in like a quiet visitor, lingering longer than I’d like. Maybe you’ve felt it too—that ache of being unseen, the longing for someone to truly understand.

In moments like these, I often turn to hymns that have comforted countless hearts before mine. Today, I find myself singing:

🎶 Pass me not, O gentle Savior, hear my humble cry; while on others Thou art calling, do not pass me by… 🎶

As the melody rises, my eyes drift to the window. Beyond the glass, I see a boat passing by on the Ohio River, slowly making its way downstream. There’s something about watching the water move—constant, steady, unwavering—that reminds me of God’s presence in my life.

Even in the stillness, even in the loneliness, He is here.

Then, a scripture comes to mind:

“Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.” (Isaiah 49:16).

What a tender truth. I am not forgotten. You are not forgotten. Our names are written on His hands, held close to His heart. Even when we feel unseen, He sees us. Even when we feel alone, He is near.

Friend, if you find yourself in a season of loneliness, take heart. The One who calms the storm and walks on water is with you. He knows your longing, He hears your cry, and He will never pass you by.
