Melissa Joy Johnson is an American gospel singer and Christian recording artist best known for her 1985 album, Sweet Beulah Land. Her warm, heartfelt singing reflects her love for Jesus Christ and her desire to encourage listeners through timeless Christian music.
The nine-song Sweet Beulah Land album includes gospel favorites such as “Sweet Beulah Land,” “El Shaddai,” “Pass Me Not,” “For Those Tears I Died,” and “He’s Still Working on Me.” The album is available through major music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music.
A Lifelong Journey in Gospel Music
Melissa began singing in church with her brothers and sisters. As the youngest of six children, music and Christian ministry were an important part of her life from an early age.
Over the years, Melissa has shared her singing ministry at churches, concerts, conferences, retreats, camps, weddings, and funeral services. Her expressive voice and sincere presentation help connect the message of each song with those who listen.
Christian Faith and Ministry
Melissa earned an Associate of Arts degree in Biblical Ministry. She married her husband, Mike Johnson, in 1981. Mike is an ordained minister, and together they have served in local church ministry for more than four decades.
Melissa and Mike have two children and two grandchildren. Their family shares a commitment to the Christian faith and service to Jesus Christ.
Writing and Creative Work
In addition to being a gospel singer, Melissa is a writer, editor, and pâtissière. She serves as a writer and editor for Serendipitous Magazine, where she continues expressing her faith and creativity through stories, articles, and visual projects.
